BOMA Hawai’i President’s Message Aloha BOMA Hawai’i ‘Ohana, We are two years into a difficult pandemic, and I am filled with renewed hope for 2022 and beyond. Let me tell you why. Navigating challenges and unchartered territory have given those of us in commercial real estate some perspective and made us a little more resilient. We got creative. Building members worked with tenants on rent relief and creative lease renewal structures to help all lease parties. Vendors worked with property managers on innovative and budget-conscious adjustments. Some of our Allied members created new revenue streams. Through it all, we came together for our employees, our clients, our peers and most importantly, our communities. Many of us recognized the frontline workers of our industry, facilitated donation drives or focused on keeping properties open to service our hardest hit communities. | As an association, BOMA Hawai’i endured. We adjusted to a mostly-virtual environment, and our leadership sought to support our members with educational programs, community service, and strong advocacy. In 2022, BOMA Hawai’i wants to build on the resilience, innovation and connectivity we’ve all developed during the pandemic. Our 2022 theme sums it up best: Evolve & Elevate. We’ve set our goals around engagement, education and access in order to do this. We want to:
I am extremely proud of the diversity of backgrounds and experience on our 2022 BOMA Hawai’i Board that will help tackle these goals. I also welcome any ideas, comments, opportunities or questions from our BOMA ‘ohana, as we are here to serve you. If you want to get involved in a committee, please reach out. Mahalo nui loa for your continued support and participation. Mahalo also for this incredible opportunity to serve as your 2022 BOMA Hawai’i President. Gail M. Abrena-Agas |
