Aloha BOMA Hawaii Members and Friends!
A look back to one year ago, BOMA Hawaii had to pivot to the new norm and create a virtual community with programs, networking, and comradery. In 2020, we quickly adapted to
2021 is full steam ahead! We held the BOMA Hawaii Member Meeting and Annual Membership Meeting in February which was in partnership with our friends, CCIM Hawaii. We also held a March Member Meeting on the topic of Stormwater Utility Fees and a Lunch & Learn sponsored by March Platinum Sponsor, Kawika’s Painting. Alongside these meetings, we initiated UberEats credits to go towards a meal for BOMA Hawaii members in place of getting together in person. This has been successful in having more active participation and also provided for a nice (and educational!) break in the day.
BOMA Hawaii’s Government Affairs Posse (BOMA Hawaii GAP) has been very active at the Hawaii State Legislature leading the discussion in various topics that could have an impact on Hawaii’s commercial real estate industry such as EV mandates among others. BOMA Hawaii is also providing a new advocacy platform for BOMA Hawaii members, VoterVoice, which enables members to quickly and easily submit sincere testimony to Hawaii legislators. BOMA Hawaii GAP met virtually via Zoom with elected officials at the City & County of Honolulu and State of Hawaii.
As we move forward into Tier 3 and more opportunities become available for COVID19 vaccination, BOMA Hawaii plans to start in person meetings in July based on the CDC guidelines. BOMA Hawaii is currently exploring venues that work closely with the City & County of Honolulu and State of Hawaii on policies and procedures to create a safe and enjoyable environment to network and come together in person. The new norm is fast approaching and BOMA Hawaii is ready for it! Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as your 2021 BOMA Hawaii President!
